WHY NOT THE BEAR? #THECAGE

The forced isolation is an endurance test. Without a doubt, freedom is the most valuable thing that a human being can have. But how does one feel when one has been locked up their entire life? Does one miss freedom? Or has one made peace with the situation and doesn’t suffer at all? How does one interact with the events that take place outside of the cage? In an immersive performance, the audience encounters a bear that is sitting alone in its cage and observing things. As visitors to the zoo, the audience itself is called upon to provide impulses for improvisation and ideas in order to move the events on stage forward.

A post-show discussion of "WHY NOT THE BEAR?" will be held on May 31.

Accessibility

The theater has a step-free and level access, but it is not open all the time. An elevator is available, but must be operated by ACUD Theater staff upon request. No accessible parking is available, but the theater has wheelchair-accessible restrooms. There is space for wheelchairs and walkers in the performance hall/area. There is also the option of special appropriate seating and/or early entry to the auditorium.

The performance will take place without speech.
